Key Highlights
Step into the wild heart of Ladakh on this unforgettable 5-day trek through the stunning Markha Valley — a trail where dramatic gorges meet ancient villages, fluttering prayer flags greet snow-clad peaks, and every footstep tells a story of resilience and peace.
Your adventure begins with a drive from Leh to the quaint village of Sara, nestled along the Indus, where you ease into the altitude surrounded by crisp mountain air. From there, the trail weaves along the Markha River, passing vibrant hamlets like Markha and Umlung, where traditional Ladakhi life unfolds against a backdrop of willow trees and ancient monasteries.
As you climb higher to Thachungtse and then the lush grazing pastures of Nimaling, Kang Yatse — the majestic 6,400-meter peak — dominates the skyline, urging you forward. The high point, both literally and emotionally, comes as you cross Kongmaru La Pass (5,200 m), a windswept col offering sweeping views of the Zanskar and Karakoram ranges.
The descent into Chokdo is steep but rewarding, and from there, a short drive brings you back to Leh — changed, rejuvenated, and filled with the silent wisdom of the mountains.
This is more than just a trek. It’s a passage through ancient culture, raw landscapes, and the deep stillness of Ladakh — a place where your spirit feels both tested and at peace.
